Bengal River Service (BD) Ltd. (BRS) was the main business of the Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal. BRS contributed substantial amount of fund to the Trust till 1990. Exportable jute was the main cargo that this river transport company carried. BRS was the single river transport company inprivate sector plying from Narayanganj to Mongla Port. Due to worldwide depression in jute market this organisation has been directly affected. Again due to fund crisis modernisation of this sector was not possible for the Trust.
